On April 29, 2021, an artist known as "LEP" minted the first of 10,000 1/1s on the Ethereum blockchain using OpenSea's Lazy Mint contract. Pieces were individually listed and sold for 0.01ฮž on OpenSea where gas wars would determine the buyer. On September 19, 2023, OpenSea announced the sunsetting of this contract, forcing LEP to produce over 3,000 Low Effort Punks before the October 3, 2023 deadline and complete the collection.
